Buy the other book "High Probability Forex Trading" then buy this book...you'll have another trick up your sleeve!!!

Another great book by Jim.

Again, if you are new to forex and would want to learn the basics, this is not the book for you. Search the web and you'll find the basics for free, or you could buy Jim's other book "Forex Trading - Basics Explained"...though I haven't read that one yet. This is a strategy book and won't run you through the basics of what forex is and or run you through the basic vocabularies for trading.

Before you buy this book, I suggest you buy the other strategy book first - MT4 High Probability Forex Trading Method. It would be easier to understand this if you've read the other one. If you've read that one and are looking for more opportunities to trade, then this book might be for you. Yes, trend is your friend, but trending markets are not forever. They even say that trending markets are just about 20% of the time. So what do we do with the other 80% of the time. Find good setups for ranging markets, reversals, continuation setups, etc.

Now this does not talk particularly about ranging, reversals or continuation strategies, though this could also be done on those mentioned I think. This is an additional tool on your arsenal that would give you setups when you will be finding none using trending strategies alone.

Plus, Jim gives you his own custom indicators, which gives you signal to buy or sell, which you can consider, but of course it is your own judgement call as trading against the trend or trading reversals is not as high probability as trending strategies.

The most important value of this book is being invited to his group wherein he posts his setups and educate us as to why he is doing it. Also, other guys there post what they see using this strategy and you too can post there and ask for feedback as to what the other guys see. If you are new to forex, you need a mentor and some trading buddies, this is where you can get it. Though he would definitely tell you he is not a guru. Just joined this group last week and am so pleased doing it.

For the price, this is the best you can get.

Excellent book for trading strategies and money management

This book is more concentrated on Jim's latest trading strategy than in Forex itself, I would strongly recomend to at least have bought one of the 2 previous books from Jim to fully understand and get the most of this one. Again, Jim does a really nice work on this book since you can sense his experience speaking for him all the way through it. As an author, I havent seen once who provides such personal trading support and trading instruments, as Jim does. If you are new to trading (the kind of "new" who already has a trading account but isnt consistently making money) then this book will clear the specific trading doubts that you have. As an example, it really helped me in regards to stop loss order placement. Divergence, although a little bit complicated to apply to your trading at first, is explained well, as Jim does a nice work on teaching you his method. In regards to the trading system he provides, I havent really tested it but having experienced the previous one he provided and seeing the new one on the book's charts I will test it, and I truly hope it can improve my trading (since the last one really surprised me on it's performance and my profits). It is important for you know that a trading system is NOT all you need to make money. It is indeed a powerful tool to boost your trading success but ISNT everything and you cant rely 100% on it to make money, you have to have good money management, discipline, self-control and more knowledge about forex in general.

You need it.

Great book. I have the Amaden-Crawford already and think it is a very good draping book. This one is , in my opinion, even better (not that the CAC one is bad).

First : The book begins with all the basics. Tools, fabric weaving, grain, marking style line, a quick reminder about facings and buttoned extensions etc...

Then : How to prepare the figure, with tape over the bust, lines, how to analyse and see the figure if working on a person instead of a dressform. Basic measurements that helps as guides

And finally comes the draping process. For the basic set (basic bodice, skirt and sleeve) They are both quite identical in result. The technic differs a little though. I tend to prefer the way HJA pins ease "fold" while draping : one of my major issue in draping is ease ('cause I've draped for several years by myself molding gowns and bustiers before getting into draping eased garment as dress and tailored jackets...)
But for the 2 darts bodice I really like the way CAC adds a grainline in the center of her princess panel. This really helped me.

I really like that she proposes 2 attachable arms the relaxed (for classic sleeves) and the straight arm (for raglans and kimonos).

The people owning her book on patternmaking will encounter some already known styles (I don't know if it's the same for CAC, I only have her draping book). And as on the drafting book you'll find a really consequent amount of styles to drape.

A beautiful, practical how-to

While this book is quite expensive because it is a textbook, it is worth every penny to the advanced sewer who is beyond alterations to ready-made patterns but needs specific concrete instructions on how to drape their own designs. Despite the glamorous cover, the book is practical and straightforwardly organized. Fully-illustrated, it clearly walks you through draping every imaginable garment, one component at a time. You do have to be working off an actual body or a dressform, as this is draping to personalized fit, not pattern-making to industry specs. If you have not mastered garment construction the book will be over your head. It truly sticks to the topic of draping and design. There are many aspects of making original clothing which are not covered, from fabric selection to couturier construction techniques. This is not an advanced sewing manual. It is about draping and I can't imagine it being more clear or thorough on that topic. Invaluable for the new designer. If only it came with Tim Gunn to offer constructive critiques as you worked...

Buyer beware

I've had this book for about a month and it is already falling apart. For the price I paid for this book, this shouldn't be happening. I've asked other classmates and they've all said the same thing. My rating reflects that of my disappointment. As for the book itself, it's okay but I wouldn't say it's the greatest book for beginners. I agree with a past reviewer that said this book is best used with an instructor.

About the Author
Katherine Bomer, author of Hidden Gems and Starting with What Students Do Best, is one of the field's most gifted writers as well as one of its most gifted teachers of writing. In more than two decades of teaching and consulting, she has used her writers' eye to focus on how craft isn't just an instructional goal but an instructional tool that allows writers to go grow well beyond the range of most publically available assessments. An internationally known consultant and frequent keynote speaker, Katherine began her consulting career with the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project. Chicken Soup for the Literacy Soul

I have come to expect a similar routine when I sit down to read professional texts. I start on page one, I let my eyes run over the text, I highlight, I mark up the margins, and by the very last page, the appetite I had for new information is satisfied. While I know I will be hungry again in the future, usually, by the end of a book, I feel good for the moment. Every once in awhile, however, I encounter a unique reading experience and the unexpected happens. As I read, I am so taken by the delectableness of the ideas, my appetite is only whetted. When I reach the last page, I want more, I crave more, I simply demand that I have to have more. Katherine Bomer's Hidden Gems was that kind of read for me.

Hidden Gems is an important book about seeing student writing with fresh eyes and fresh perspectives. Bomer brings examples of student writing to the table and challenges readers to see past glaring errors and awkward language constructions. She teaches us to read student writing with the same reverence that we use when reading the work of beloved authors. Her common-sense approach reminds us that nudging students toward greatness is not rocket science. It's about honoring student writing voices and complimenting their grand efforts to share their ideas through writing.

Katherine Bomer once again invites us to sink into a reading experience that will ignite our teacher hearts!

Ever sit down to read a student's piece of writing and feel like you're grasping for a compliment? Feel like you only notice what to TEACH them? There is beauty. It is there, and Katherine is pulling us closely to show us.

Outstanding!! I purchased the book based on a recommendation from Leah Mermelstein. I used it in preparation for a presentation I was doing around assessment and student writing with K-2 teachers. We used Katherine Bomer's protocol for looking at writing and I couldn't believe how our thinking about student writing changed from a skills perspective to one of meaning. Absolutely wonderful read!! Your understandings will deepen and grow!

Fedders, an official of the Securities Exchange Commission. The couple lived graciously in Washington, where in the privacy of their home the husband beat his wife and browbeat their five sons. In a less melodramatic telling, the book would more forcefully call needed attention to the problem of abused women. It is made abundantly clear that Fedders suffered brutality but the reason why she endured it for so many years is not satisfactorily explained. Elliott's contention that the victim's Catholic upbringing trained her to submissiveness is not entirely convincing. And there is no analysis of why the husband, with the same religious background, became a dangerous bully. Elliott is a reporter for Washingtonian magazine. Should be required reading for middle school students

I read this book initially 25 years ago, and I think it should be required reading for middle school students in that the message is "Girls, you don't have to take this from anyone," and "Boys--this is NOT how you treat girls!" My late grandmother told me my freshman year of college that it's now time to start looking for a husband. I thought, "noooooo....I need to GRADUATE first!" I'm glad I didn't heed her advice, as one of my best friends from college was more "MRS" degree-oriented, and she later had to escape her abusive marriage. This book taught me a lot, and I'm proud of Ms. Fedders' courage.

When Wife-Beating was "Acceptable"

People tend to live according to social norms and mores, rather than according to laws. When readers ask "why did she stay with an abusive man for 17 years" the answer is clear; leaving the husband wasn't "acceptable". Fedders would have gotten no support if she'd left her husband in the early years of their marriage (or later even). The courts would've given custody to her husband, she wouldn't have gotten any alimony, and she might've had trouble getting a job (employers could refuse to hire a divorced woman). Besides, her husband was "respectable" and she would've had no advocate. In those days, women were trapped. The codified law that says "beating someone is illegal" didn't apply to the marriage; it was the norms and mores that ruled, and those norms and mores said that wife beating was to be tolerated "tolerated for the good of the marriage".

Did Fedder's Catholic upbringing have anything to do with it? Maybe so. If she'd gone to talk to a Priest, what would he have done? In those days, the Priest wouldn't call the husband to his office and chew him out! He wouldn't threaten to excommunicate him for beating his wife! If she'd told the Priest "why must I stay in a marriage where I'm being abused" he would've said "you're a Catholic, make the best of it". What could she do?

In the 1980's, I saw campaigns in the form of TV ads, TV sitcom episodes, and magazine articles, encouraging women to stand up to abusive husbands. Spousal abuse was becoming a public issue, and people were beginning to see it as "unacceptable". But years earlier, it was simply tolerated. Back in the 1960's, men were rarely arrested for beating their wives or children. Beating one's wife was on par (according to mores and norms of the time) with breaking in a pet. Watch THE BURNING BED if you want an example.

We debate the merits of "social engineering", where masses of people change their attitudes. Some say it's "changing times" that change people, but books like these really can "engineer" social norms. By the 1990's, not only was wife-beating seen as unacceptable, but so was sexual harassment, child molestation, tenant harassment, and other forms of injustice. There was a time when sexual abuse was rarely reported, but now it's taken more seriously. Look at the Catholic Church sex abuse lawsuits as an example. Nobody is immune.

Even today, people can be trapped in abusive relationships, and it doesn't always involve beatings. For instance, a mentally ill husband controls his family by threatening suicide, and pressures his wife into doing everything his way. Or an abusive mother threatens to kill her sons pets if the boy doesn't obey.

The bottom line is, when the Fedders were married, there was no place to turn to if you were in an abusive marriage.

Shattered Dreams

This book was very good.

Charlotte really went through some very hard times with her husband

John. I am glad to hear she was able to break away and control her own life. I was shocked to read just how mean this man could be.

I first saw this movie on TV some years back and it was good but the book is so much better. It goes into a lot more detail about

her marriage to John. I hope that John has gotten help for his need to control everyone. Who did he think he was?

Great for kids and adult never-ever

Just got this for my daughter for Xmas. She loves it, it takes a never-ever chess player gradually through the pieces so that you're playing shorter, faster games right away and in the process building your knowledge. It's particularly fun for a parent and child because the book is written as a dialogue between two people (so my daughter and I trade off reading it).

Chess is an easy game to teach young children if you make it fun! Ms. Chevannes knows how to create fun! First, she explains the game rules and pieces adding little bits of history into the mix. Next, you will have start playing with a game of pawns - what fun! Quickly your little ones are playing by themselves as you add in additional pieces. Educators will tell you that children who play chess often have higher math test scores - parents will tell you that children who play chess will have additional reasoning skills - both with agree that Chess can be fun and easy! Comprehensive treatment of a theme... reading experience ruined by poor editing

Pros: Historical facts/anecdotes about the physical nature of light and the psychological/physiological dimensions of color.
Cons: 1) Lack of professional editing. Seems the only editing the text received was using "auto-correct" of a world processing program, leading to inclusion of similar, but wrong words. Examples from a single page (pg. 37) ".. the sky just prior to or after a story has a bluish-gray cast.." "Try arriving well before sunrise if you are shooting dawn scenes because one the sun has crested..." ...for many people (particular people who live in a cold environment..."
2) Many ideas do not apply if you shoot in RAW format.
3) Often unnecessarily verbose.

This book is less technical than books by Bryan Peterson and the the images are not as impressive/treatment of the theme not as artistic as by Brenda Tharp. Both of these authors cover the topics to a sufficient degree, and provide a more enjoyable read. At minimum "Master guide" should have professional editing, better organization of the themes, and higher quality images.

Good read!

I purchased this book based on existing reviews along with several other related books on color printing prior to making archival prints. It was a good read and I digested a considerable amout of useful information, some of which I may never need to use. This book did make me aware of solutions to a few problems I had been experiencing earlier. I plan to read it again soon and may give it five stars at that point.

A good overview of engineering economics using MS Excel

I rented this textbook off another service. I used it for an engineering management class. Some sections are a little difficult to follow and understand, but there's nothing wrong with reading a section more than once. I did find myself reading something several times before it clicked. I also had a good instructor for the course. I do think it is a decent textbook and there are a good number of end-of-chapter problems to practice what they show you in the examples. This textbook focuses on engineering economics using Excel. There are other textbooks out there I have seen with a more pencil and paper approach. In the real word, it is more realistic to use something like Excel since some problems can be rather large with a lot of variables. As with everything, there is room for improvement. I felt the textbook was acceptable though and a good read for the most part.

Horrible Book

Horrible book. Doesn't actually explain concepts, just tells you how to solve them in excel, and even then its skips over a lot of formulas. Typos everywhere! Typos in the answers in the back. Typos in the formulas. Typos in their work. Makes it hard to follow. Also book is not laid out well. Things you need to understand in ch 2 aren't explained until ch 4. Only bought it because I needed it for a class. None of us like it.
