Ecstatic Postures

As a person with a Maya archaeological backround, using the maya statues and pictures out of context was annoying. The writing was so easy that I wondered who the targeted audience was.
Other than that, it's an interesting book, many postures to try. So far, I haven't had any luck with the postures that my age and arthritis will allow, but I haven't stopped trying.

This book breaks with traditional wisdom by arguing that it was the states that encouraged the internationalization of private finance since 1945 rather than technological innovation or international trade. In fact, Lucatelli argues that the states did so in order not to bear the painful adjustments to macroeconomic shocks. This book is an excellent introduction for any finance course.

A Good Book for Learning New Languages

I was very impressed with the book overall. I thought that the author's comments in the preface concerning what the book was useful for were important and to the point. I felt that the exercises, while appearing simple on the surface, quickly highlighted areas in my programming knowledge that were rusty or deficient. Add on to that the additional "challenges" for each exercise, and the problems became even more enlightening.

I also liked the idea of the discussion forum where readers can share solutions. I only hope that readers will post solutions and make use of it. If enough readers do that, I could see that this book in conjunction with the forum could become a very important learning resource for a myriad of different languages.

I do programming as a hobby, not a career, and one of the things I enjoy is learning new languages. But quite often, the examples in books are not enough to give you the experience you need to feel comfortable using the language for actual programming. I am looking forward to using this book to give me more experience with new languages so I feel comfortable using those languages for writing larger programs.

It doesn't teach a language just gives you great things to practice that language

As a developer and instructor I have found this book an extremely valuable addition to my bookshelf. The exercises in this book have helped me learn a new programing language faster than I have with any other book, because of the simplicity and focus on just solving problems. It doesn't teach a language just gives you great things to practice that language, so you get good at it. As an instructor I have added these problems and variations of them to my assignments repository. Every developer needs to have a copy of this book and use it to learn the language they currently work in better and pick up new languages.

Exercises for Programmers provides great information for anyone trying to expand their knowledge of Computer Science. I have studied the Java programming language for more than three years, and this book helped expand my ever-so growing knowledge of that programming language. This book also helped me learn Ruby, as all of the programs in this book can be written in any programming language.

I would recommend this book from any beginner to the world of computer science to an expert willing to expand their knowledge.

Mooser's Train has inspired and challenged folders for nearly five decades. I’m having a great time folding with my son and his friends

My son and I have always been lovers of origami so I am always looking for new books and special origami paper so he can enjoy the full experience when he sits down to fold his different projects. He has been getting a little bored with the normal basic folds and creations he has been enjoying for so long, so as he gets older he’s been wanting to do more challenging things since he does Origami often, and wanting to learn more advanced folds and be able to complete more advanced projects. So I got him this book, since we both loved the first book from this seller. When we got it he sat down with me and didn’t want to stop all night until he got this one fold right. Talk about keeping a child occupied! This book was awesome for me and awesome for him, and he has been at it every day this week. The book shows how to do each fold and with instructions for easy understanding. I think this book is perfect for those at any age with a little experience in origami and needing a bit more of a challenge when creating!

Challenging and Fun!

This project is a bit challenging, but this book explains each step in full detail in addition to great diagrams that help guide you as you are folding. My nephew had a lot of fun making this train with me, and he was so proud of himself when he finished it. If you are into Origami, you need to add this train to your collection. It is so adorable and the book does an amazing job of explaining how to do all of the different folds required to make it. I highly recommend this book. Thumbs Up!

Directions could be more clear...

Obviously, you need to be an advanced folder to take this on. Even still, there are loads of pics that show the paper after it's been folded and unfolded. I'm not a great fan of trying to work out what happened. Still, it's a really cool concept!

About the Author
As a faculty member teaching accounting courses in a number of educational institutions, Donatila Agtarap-San Juan was challenged to write a student-friendly accounting book that presents accounting principles and concepts in very simple understandable manner. During the course of her teaching experience, she encounters many students who have inherent anxiety about learning accounting. Most students feel that accounting is difficult to study and they seem to have a mental block absorbing accounting knowledge. As a result, accounting faculty members oftentimes experience barriers in imparting accounting knowledge. Donatila Agtarap-San Juan decided to motivate and inspire her accounting students. Over the years, she developed a step-by-step teaching method whereby she introduces accounting concepts in ordinary lay man's terms and uses examples that students can relate to. Students are always given accounting problems to verify that they learned the accounting concepts discussed in class. Donatila Agtarap-San Juan obtained her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, major in Accounting, degree from the University of the East in Manila Philippines, graduating at the top of her class. She was a board placer when she took the CPA Board Examinations given by the Board of Accountancy of the Philippine Regulatory Commission. She obtained her Masters in Business Administration, major in Management Accounting degree from the Fordham University Graduate School of Business. Donatila Agtarap-San Juan worked for large corporations where she obtained extensive management experience in all phases of financial management and analyses, accounting, information technology, benefits administration, marketing and overall office management administration. She served in various capacities as an active member of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She was engaged as a consultant on a project basis by the World Bank.
