The one book whisky lovers should get !

Several reasons any whisky lovers should get this book.

1st: Simple and straight to the point. The whiskies are described using simple vocabulary which make it very easy to follow.

2nd: Images. I love the fact that each whisky listed has a color photo of the actual bottle. This is going to be very helpful when I will be looking for it on the shelf at a store.

3rd: Distillery information. Gives you contact info as well as a short “bio” of the distillery and other whiskies produced.

4th: The Glossary. A complete glossary of whisky terms was added at the end of the book. Very convenient.

5th: The format. Small enough to take with you on your travels or to the store.

I hope they make an app of this book. That would be awesome.

Fresh reviews. Clear information. Non-biased scores. Great resource to discover new and rare whiskys from around the world. I like that all tastings are done blind by an expert panel, not just one person with tastes not similar to yours. This guide can even be used to plan a tasting trip of distilleries with contact info and tasting room hours. Will buy future editions for sure.

I got this book a few days ago, and had some time to read through it. It is pricey for a paperback, which is why I would give it a 4.5. Yet, the size is perfect for me to take to the store, and use as a guide. The guide is simple to use and I was impressed by the simplicity of the whiskey reviews, as well as the fact that all the reviews are current. Best part is that each review has a picture of the exact bottle, so it makes it easier for me to look for it or show the salesman what I am looking for. I understand the reasoning behind the tasting methodology used. It makes sense to classify the aromas/flavors from most prominent to least...
This makes a perfect gift, so I am definitely purchasing more for friends and family as birthdays and Christmas gifts.

Ruby Oliver has been in therapy. She has gone through Reginald several times. Her ex-boyfriend has cheated on her and turned into a pod-robot. Her best friends weren't such good friends. She has conquered bake sales, November Week and befriended a pygmy goat named Robespierre.

Some of it was hard, some of it was fun. All of it led Ruby to a new group of strange but dependable friends and, maybe more surprisingly, to a new boyfriend.

Noel is the perfect boyfriend. He's Ruby's real, live boyfriend and everything is perfect. At least it is for a while.

But then everything gets complicated again. Noel shuts down and shuts Ruby out. Her parents are fighting. Hutch has gone to Paris to study and do whatever retro-metal fans do in France. Megan is busy with her real live boyfriend. Things with Nora are still kind of a mess. Then Gideon shows up. Shirtless.

It's all a mess but with little patience and a lot of mishaps Ruby might be able to survive these recent debacles, her panic attacks, and even manage to make a few lists about the whole thing in Real Live Boyfriends: Yes. Boyfriends, plural. If my life weren't complicated, I wouldn't be Ruby Oliver (2010) by E. Lockhart.

Real Live Boyfriends is the fourth book in the Ruby Oliver Quartet. Ruby's earlier adventures are chronicled begining in The Boyfriend List and followed by The Boy Book and The Treasure Map of Boys.

I love reading about Ruby's misadventures and all of her friends. Almost everything about this conclusion was spot on. My only real complaint: I wished Hutch was around more. Because he was my favorite character.

Real Live Boyfriends was the right conclusion to a really fun, sincere series. Reading through the books Ruby felt like a personal friend and it's hard to believe her adventures are over so quickly (I only started reading the series a couple months ago). The book picks up during the summer before Ruby's senior year and conclude during at the end of the first semester. Lockhart provides closure for Ruby's panic attacks, her friends, her parents and even Robespierre the pygmy goat. Questions are answered about Kim, Nora, Cricket and Gideon.

It's sad to see the end of the series but Roo fans will find a satisfying if bittersweet conclusion. Loose ends from the series are tied up while still leaving Ruby looking at a future that can be whatever she wants it to be. And knowing Ruby, you can bet it will be a bright, zany future.

This book is exactly what every parent would not want their daughter to experience! It would be so much better to write a book that teaches girls how to honors themselves as ladies, where they have self worth and value. I have 3 daughters and they will be raised knowing that they are not an object!

of her love remains very much in my heart.
In such preciousness I realize that a tiny
grain of sand is like the heart of a woman.
Until you take the time to appreciate its
beauty, what you hold in the softness of your
hand will always be simply a grain of sand.

warmth of my arms, her preciousness is
known by my heart. In the stillness of
this beautiful night, I cry her tears, tears
that her heart has so many times shown,
yet in this most tender moment of love I
promise that I will forever take her every

Work of poetry

The pages aren't flowing over with words and the cover is kinda cheesy. What is that saying? Oh yeah, "You can't judge a book by its what?"

I did a "Search inside the book" before I bought it and I have to say that I liked the original cover better. That's neither here nor there, though.

This is a work of poetry; you could even say a piece of art. It is better left to those who can appreciate the true unveiling of a heart. He doesn't need to spell it out because you'll either get it or you won't.

As a woman, it filled my heart with love. It is so tender, respectful, and honest. His words flow like a hummingbird floats, full of grace and beauty. I believe that he expresses what every woman wants to hear.

If it doesn't melt your heart I don't know what to say, because mine is in a puddle on the floor.

No more confusion

I bought this book thinking it was Brandon Boyd of Incubus. partly because the book is being sold with Incubus CD's but after receving the book and reading it I was not too sure. not to say its not a good book its okay, just a little mushy. Than after going to the book signing on May 12th some girls brought this book for Brandon to sign and he did not even know this book existed. so I just wanted to let everyone know as to not be confused this is NOT a Brandon Boyd of Incubus book.
And thank you to Brandon for clearing things up!!!

may not be the brandon you expect but he's still good

though i agree with those saying that you should research the books first, i must admit i was expecting the other brandon when i bought this (and no, i'm not a sad little teenage girl, but i like incubus' lyrics and am a huge fan of the BAND not just the singer).
now that's over with... this book may be a little mushy to some, but it really has some beautiful lines in there that can move even the least romantic of you. it's just full of short poems that really make you think about your own experiences.

Great book but no transcription key!

The books has a lot of great information and it is helpful. However, the dictation on the cd is not really very useful if you don't know if your transcription is correct you will never know. You need a key to see if you transcribed the dictation correctly....key only available to instructors.

Great Textbook

I am leaving a review mainly for those who have purchased this book and do not have the answer keys. I used this book with futuremt.com's online course. I copied that below from their website. As far as the answer key for the end of chapter assignments, you have to have a username and password to download those, but if you go to their website and email them, you may be able to get the answer key from them. Hope this helps you all! :)

TRANSCRIPT KEYS AND REDLINING INSTRUCTIONS AND PASSWORDS

Follow these instructions to unlock the Transcript Keys and Redlining on your CD-ROM. This will allow students to access all the answers for each transcription report to compare your own work.

These Passwords are CASE SENSITIVE. Entering each password toggles that feature on; entering it again toggles the feature off.

Using the Transcript Keys
The Transcript Answer key feature is disabled by default.

To Unlock Transcript Keys: From the Main Menu of the CD-ROM program or Dictation Selection screen, press Ctrl+Shift+F10. Enter E79B31 and click Okay.

To view a Transcript Key, click the key icon or choose Proofread from the menu bar and then click Transcript Key to reveal the key for the current dictation. Do not reveal the Transcript Key until you have completely transcribed the dictation in its entirety and proofread it thoroughly on your own.

Redlining
The Redlining feature is disabled by default on the student version of the MTFP 3rd edition/Medical Transcription Interactive CD.

To Unlock Redlining: From the Main Menu or Dictation Selection screen, press Ctrl+Shift+F9. Enter B5SA86 and click Okay.

Redlining is a feature that automatically compares the transcript key to the document you transcribed. Information in your document that does not appear in the transcript key will be noted in redlined or "strikeout" text, i.e., deletions. Information that appears in the transcript key but is not in your document will appear in green text, i.e., additions.

so this was a big deal to me (and also something towatch out for)

This guide is a must have for anyone prepping for the GED and needs a bit of help in the Math department. First of all, this guide is a 2017 edition, so I know that it has the most up to date content. Many of the other guides that I saw were from last year and beyond, so this was a big deal to me (and also something to watch out for). This guide is well written and easy to understand. I would recommend this guide to others who are looking for a general idea of what to expect and a good guide for a great price.

Mr. Natural is a 1960s guru, "th' only knower of th' cosmic mysteries alive at this time." Calling him a "mystic madcap" gives the crass, less-than-compassionate charlatan the benefit of the doubt. He is not particularly wise or helpful; in fact, he's a lecherous, grumbling old geezer who gives advice such as "When you arise in the morning, you should do last night's dirty dishes . . . then you should sing a simple melody (of your own choice) . . . then you should call somebody up (not me) . . . then go to the store . . . buy some asparagus." True to the collection's name and R. Crumb's reputation, the stories are sometimes sexually graphic (especially in the scenes with Devil Girl) and a bit on the violent side. Still, there's an innocent, upbeat quality to this comic reflection of America's most notoriously freewheeling decade.

Seminal underground comics artist Crumb has lately gained wider recognition, thanks to an acclaimed documentary about him. Libraries wanting some representative Crumb in the wake of the movie may be better served by this single volume featuring one of his most famous creations than by the multivolume reprinting of all of his work that Fantagraphics has about half-completed. The bearded, robed, curmudgeonly guru Mr. Natural hasn't changed much since his 1967 debut. An ever-serene-but-horny philosopher-for-hire, dispensing enlightenment to an undeserving world--is he a wise, grizzled mystic or a cynical charlatan? A teller of timeless truths or a sixties anachronism? Wherever he appears, so do his most loyal acolyte, Flakey Foont, and his obsession, the lusty Devil Girl. The collection constitutes a sheer delight for those who have followed the Natch's exploits over the years, yet it is completely accessible to nonaficionados--at least those undaunted by the raunchiness that is another thing that hasn't changed since the sage's early days. The un-guru

If--perish the thought!--all of R. Crumb's work except his Mr Natural comix were lost to humankind, we'd still have what I take to be his most important legacy. An entire college course could be taught--probably HAS been taught somewhere--with the Mr Natural comix as texts.

Mr Natural is a guru who does exactly what good gurus ought to do: he shakes us up by refusing to act like we think holy people should act. He has a roving eye for the ladies, he cusses, at times he appears heartless or indifferent, and the advice he offers--when he does offer it, which isn't all that often--frequently comes across as whacky. He's so irreverent that it's easy to see him as irrelevant. But nothing could be further from the truth, because Mr Natural is like one of those Taoist sages who, dressed in rags and laughing uproariously, serve as living reminders for the rest of us not to take ourselves, our lifestyles, and our values so seriously. Self-honesty is what Mr Natural wants from us.

As Flakey Foont discovers over and over in the Mr Natural comix, though, self-honesty is hard to come by, because self-deception feels so damn good, especially to us "booshwah" types. We deceive ourselves all the time about our seething sexual desires ("Mr Natural stops Talking," "The Girlfriend," and the marvelous Devil Girl stories). We deceive ourselves about our piety, pretending that what we want to believe is what we should believe ("Mr Natural Goes to a Meeting of the Minds," "Om Sweet Om," and "Sittin' Around the Kitchen Table"). We deceive ourselves about work and ambition ("It's a workaday World") and, in one of the best two stories in this volume, we deceive ourselves when we think about God ("Mr Natural Meets 'The Kid'").* In all these stories, sacred cow after sacred cow runs off into the sunset, mooing gaily.

And as if all that's not good enough, R. Crumb gives us the definitive biography of Mr Natural--complete with early and rare photos--in this volume (pp. 42-44). This story alone is worth the price of the entire book.

Truly, a great collection!

A funny reminder of a lost time

When I was in high school in the early 1970s, a candy store a few blocks from the school sold Zap comics, though the owner kept them hidden. This helped me discover the wacky world of Robert Crumb, and the many other artists whose work was in Zap (notably Gilbert Shelton, and the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers). Reading this recently brought back some memories of that lost time, but the later stories in the book leave a lot to be desired. As with much of this work - and the same is true with Shelton - there was a brief period when these artists were able to capture the time, but as years passed, they kept on repeating themselves, and their work ends up like aging hippies.

It's a fun read, but it's not Crumb's best work. However, it does bring back good memories.

If only I had save those original Zap comics and other underground comics I had back then...

The smell of the Summer of Love is strong with this one

I don't know if I have anything coherent or meaningful to say about R. Crumb's THE BOOK OF MR. NATURAL, the collected stories of a character who is very much a product of a very specific time -- and that time was before I was born. Mr. Natural is described on the back cover as a "bearded, robed, curmudgeonly guru," but, really, he was just one in a long line of Crumb stand-ins, embodying one particular part of Crumb's own psyche to make particular points about contemporary society. Natural was the hippie side of Crumb, I suppose, forever disdaining all kinds of restraints, seeking mystical guidance from supernatural forces of one kind or another, and, most centrally, nakedly questioning the point of life and what, if anything, we're supposed to do with ourselves while we're alive. He does this, most usually, in pseudo-Socratic dialogues with Flakey Foont -- yes, these characters were conceived in the late '60s, and that permeates everything about them -- who is just as stereotyped an "Establishment" "square" "straight man" as Natural is a stereotype old hippie. (Though Crumb did anticipate what the real hippies would turn into, a couple of decades ahead.) I find it all a bit sad and woolly-headed, forty years later, but I am a well-known grump with no soul; more spiritually-oriented folks are likely to get more out of Natural's antics than I do.
